ACADEMIC AND PROFESSIONAL INTERESTS

​

  • Natural resource management, especially the human dimensions in wildlife resources (primarily large carnivores in various parts of Europe), jaguar and puma issues in Brazil, Bathurst caribou issues with First Nations and various levels of government in NWT and Nunavut, national parks planning in Romania and international peace park establishment in Armenia, Georgia and Turkey, bison reintroduction in Alaska, USA.

  • Created a biodiversity strategy in Pyrenees, France.

  • Attitudinal and belief survey research that aids the resource manager in the decision-making process, public involvement mechanisms that gain public acceptance for natural resource management plans, particularly work in eastern Europe, Canadian north and for Parks Canada, Aboriginal and Territorial Governments, Alaska Fish and Game.

  • Questionnaire design, analytical methods, statistical analysis.

  • Facilitation and conflict resolution skills (European facilitation style), strategic planning for business development corporations, Parks Canada, NWT ENR, NWT Tourism and Parks, Israeli-Palestinian authorities on urban biosphere questions, etc.;

  • Protected area resource issues.

  • Governance and engagement issues with key interest groups and rural communities particularly focused on wildlife, forestry.
